Another Good Night!

So tonight Lucy wanted to sleep with Atticus in his bed. Atticus was up for it for a little bit. Once he had enough, he told Lucy to get back into her bed. She refuted that his bed was now her bed. This went back and forth for a while. Then Atticus said fine and climbed in Lucy's bed. He did his best to make her want her bed. He said, "oh look Lucy I have your nice blanket! It is so comfortable. Oh now I am laying on your princess pillow, so nice!" Lucy just smiled and leaned over his bed and said, "oh you like princesses!" That got Atticus. He jumped out of her bed saying, "NO!! I don't like princesses. Get out of my bed!" I was cracking up! She continued to tease him about liking princesses as we moved her out of his bed. We love her!

A late night puppet show!

Lucy! I love her! She cracks me up all the time. I have been working on getting her to sleep well in her big girl bed. One night she climbed into bed, pulled up covers, and snuggled down to bed. I was doing a happy dance, thinking this is the night! I put Attiucs and Avaree to bed and was about to leave the room when I little pink sock poked up over the toddler bed rail. The sock sang out, "Hello everybody!" Then a little hand came up over the rail and said, "Shhhhh! You must be quiet mom will be mad." The pink sock countered," But I have to sing! LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" The little hand and pink sock went on arguing! Atticus and I were laughing so hard!! I couldn't be mad!

Summer of the Monkeys!

We have almost home schooled for a whole year! We have loved it. I have loved many things, but I dare say my favorite reason is a petty one. I loved this whole winter that we drank hot coco in our pajamas and read books while everyone else had to get up start their cars or walk to the bus stop in the early cold of winter. I have also come to terms that our kids will be different as we continue doing this because their experiences will be different. I got a good reminder of this yesterday. Attiucs is in a play, the wizard of oz. We were practicing his lines at the playground. The other kids asked what we were doing. As we explained, I was amazed none of them had seen or heard of the wizard of oz. One boy said, "Yeah, I think I know what that is. At my school we are making bricks and there is a scarecrow, a tin can, and lion by it." I laughed to myself as I was again thinking how my kids will be different. We have read over 15 books this years. Holes, Rapunzel's Revenge, Lunch Lady, and Summer of the Monkeys have been our favorites. I smiled again when it was time to go to bed. I called them in. They didn't want to come, so I reminded them of the chapter of 'The Summer of the Monkeys' that was waiting for them. They cheered and came running. The other children's faces were priceless.
